GFM+ glass filter medium is made of 100% recycled glass. Itis ground and dried at 180°C and screened in different fraction sizes to obtainoptimal filtration. Since the grains are angular in shape and therefore morevoluminous, the filter bed is composed more airy, which results in betterpermeability of the filter compared to a classic filling with filter sand.
GFM+ glass filter medium is amorphous and has no internalcrystal structure, which means that the grains remain homogeneous and do notclump. This makes the backwashing process more efficient and you use lesswater. In addition, the absence of grain formation (clumping together) preventsbacteria from settling and thus partially preventing backwashing.
GFM+ glass filter medium has a slightly negative charge onthe surface, which means that dirt particles (positively charged) are attractedduring the filtration process. During backwashing, the weakly charged particlesrelease this dirt so that it is quickly removed. Another factor that means thatless, valuable (warm), water is used.
